The proceedings will be released in two parts; the first part, which contains the papers delivered at the conference is now avail- able; the second part, which will contain the most recent information available regarding the extent, cost, and benefits of the present plans should be ready for distribution in about thirty ds.ys* Papers were given at the conference by Walter J. We are sure that Art will have many interesting yarns, fact and fiction, concerning the labor movement in England and Europe and the British Niational Health Plan. * * * * * * * * * VOCATIONAL FEHABILITATION CON NT 1N3 On Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, a conference on Vocational Rehabili- tation will be held at the Statler-Hilton Hotel, co-sponsored by the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, and the Institute of Industrial Relations at UCLA. The conference will include workshops on voluntary welfare programs in non- occupational situations; the Social Security rehabilitation program for early disability retirees; and Workmen's Compensation. Some of the speakers scheduled for the program are: Kenneth Pohlmann, Director of Vocational Rehabilitation for the United Mine Workers; Elizabeth Austin, M.D., Chairman of the California Medical Association Committee on Vocational Rehabilit-ation; Andrew Marrin, Chief, California Vocational Rehabilitation Service; Albin J. There will be a brief description of Lockheed's functions and a film on the Fl04. The tour will include the Lockheed Fabrication and the Hall of Giants facility, and also the Electra final assembly and flighlt line area. Since Lockheed requires security cleerance, and there are also certain age limita- tions, it is necessary to make early reservations. For those who are interested, dinner is available at the Lockheed Terminal Sky Room. * * * * * * * * * WORKSHOP IN GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES AND ARBITRATION OFFzRED FOR ADVANCED CERTIFICATE On June 21, a six-week course, Workshop in Grievance Procedures and Arbitration will begin at the James Monroe High School in the San Fernando Valley. This is one of the courses which can be credited toward the Advanced Certificate in Industrial Relations. -'Students will participate in mock grievance meetings of foremen and stewards through "role-playing" methods. The course will include the actual pre- paration of different types of cases for arbitration and the presentation of the cases to arbitration. Students will alternately take the parts of union representatives, company representatives, and the arbitrator. Highlights will include talks by representatives of labor and management, and by nationally known arbitrator, Ben- Jamin Aaron. Enrollment is open to all graduates of the present Certificate Program, stuxdents who have completed Grievances and Arbitration, and others gaining the consent of the instructor.
